Fans of Seiko have almost certainly heard the fascinating story of the brand's inter-company competition during the 1960s and '70s. Back then, Seiko had two separate factories creating its watches: the Suwa factory, which produced Grand Seiko, and the Daini factory, which produced King Seiko. Seiko’s objective behind having its two factories compete against each other was to promote progress through competition, with the end goal of building the best timepieces possible.
Grand Seiko ultimately won out, and this piece is a shining example of the kind of insane attention to detail that that competition bred. Colloquially known as the 57GS, this ref. 43999 is one of the earliest examples of Grand Seiko's incredible output. Featuring a 35-jewel chronograph-rated movement, a fantastically beveled case, and a beautifully subdued silver dial, it's an absolutely timeless, stylish piece that can go anywhere, do anything, and look fantastic doing it.

CASE & BRACELET
The stainless steel case is in excellent condition, showing very minimal signs of wear or age. The case back is also in excellent condition with minimal signs of use visible and featuring the Grand Seiko medallion and other factory markings. The watch is supplied on its original two-piece alligator strap with Grand Seiko-signed tang buckle.
DIAL & HANDS
The silver sunburst dial is in flawless condition, with zero signs of patina or wear at all, featuring an applied Seiko logo at 12 o'clock. The hour markers are crisp and polished with sharp bevels, matching the incredible dauphine-style handset.
